FRANCE 24 app hits million downloads mark
22 July, 2010 - 11:29French international TV channel FRANCE 24 has surpassed one million downloads of its FRANCE 24 LIVE app that runs on the iPhone and all smartphones.
Launched in March 2009, and offered via the Mobiclip video distribution platform, FRANCE 24 is claimed to be the first television station in the world available live in 3 languages on all these devices, regardless of the model and operator.
FRANCE 24 offers a French perspective and sensibility on world events and broadcasts on a 24/7 basis on three channels, in French, English and Arabic, in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Americas. FRANCE 24 can be accessed by cable, satellite, ADSL and mobile phone. The website www.france24.com is available in 3 languages (English, French and Arabic).
Nearly 80% of downloads of the application originate from outside France: Europe accounts for 50% of downloads, Africa 20%, North America 15% and Asia almost 15%. FRANCE 24 also says that it was the first international news channel available live on the iPad.
Celebrating passing the million download mark, FRANCE 24 has launched new on demand channels for the app including the Press Review, the Observers, Technophile and Reports.
